Jurassic Park – The Ride is confirmed to be closing on September 3, 2018, EW has reported. Jurassic Cove Restaurant and the Jurassic Outfitters store will close at the same time, reopening with the new attraction some time in 2019.
The original attraction, based on the cinematic blockbuster from 1993, debuted in Universal Studios Hollywood in 1996.
A press release about the announcement says “This next-generation thrill ride will be a fully reimagined iteration of the groundbreaking adventure, elevating every facet of the experience. With the introduction of never-before-seen dinosaurs, enhanced storytelling, lush scenic design, an entirely new color scheme, and uncompromised state-of-the-art technology, the ride will capture elements never experience with a theme park.”
Fans of the Orlando version, Jurassic Park River Adventure, may want to visit that attraction soon. Rumor has it, this change may be coming to the Central Florida theme park as well.
